Karbi Anglong Ginger is a GI-tagged agricultural spice originating exclusively from the Karbi Anglong district of Assam, India. It received its Geographical Indication (GI) status in 2014-15 (GI No. 226) in recognition of its distinct qualities and geographical origin under Indian GI law. The ginger is traditionally cultivated in the hilly terrain of the Singhasan and Khonbamon areas using indigenous farming systems, including jhum and tila cultivation by tribal farming communities.
